From the instant Sustainable Sushi: A Guide to Saving the Oceans One Bite at a Time was released, it was on its way to being out of date. I knew this was going to be the case even as I was writing the book. The fact is that the world
‘s oceans are constantly changing, and with an ever increasing consumer population, global climate change, and shifting demand patterns, the fishing and aquaculture industries are in a continual state of flux. I created this website as support mechanism for my book: in theory, it should be able to keep interested consumers up to speed on the sustainability of their favorite choices at the sushi bar, even as new science emerges and the status of various fisheries change.
I’ll do my best to keep on top of new information and make changes accordingly. When I update a chapter, it will be flagged as “Updated.”
Since I was building this site anyway, I went ahead and added a number of other pieces to it: a virtual sushi dinner, restaurant reviews, updates on policy and industry, and more.
This site also serves as a collection point for information. Postings on all topics are open; please let me know if I’ve missed something, misstated my case, or even dropped the ball altogether. The whole concept of sustainability is an organic notion that’s growing and changing everyday; I welcome your input.
I hope you find this site helpful, and that we can continue to work together to save our oceans and preserve our resources for future generations.
